How to Install Pyenv on Ubuntu 18.04


In this video, we describe how to install pyenv on Ubuntu 18.04.

Commands used:
apt update -y

apt install -y make build-essential libssl-dev zlib1g-dev
> libbz2-dev libreadline-dev libsqlite3-dev wget curl llvm libncurses5-dev
> libncursesw5-dev xz-utils tk-dev libffi-dev liblzma-dev python-openssl
> git

git clone https://github.com/pyenv/pyenv.git ~/.pyenv
echo ‘export PYENV_ROOT=”$HOME/.pyenv”‘ >> ~/.bashrc
echo ‘export PATH=”$PYENV_ROOT/bin:$PATH”‘ >> ~/.bashrc
echo -e ‘if command -v pyenv 1 >/dev/null 2>&1; thenn eval “$(pyenv init -)”nfi’ >> ~/.bashrc
root@ubuntu:~# exec “$SHELL”
pyenv install –list
pyenv install 3.8.3
pyenv versions
pyenv global 3.8.3
python
pyenv help
