Hybrid Cloud Solutions Provider TierPoint to Build Second Data Center in Baltimore

TierPoint, a U.S. provider of hybrid cloud solutions including colocation, with 40 data centers in 20 markets and 8 multi-tenant cloud pods, connected by a coast-to-coast network, will build a new “state-of-the-art” commercial data center in the Baltimore metropolitan area, less than a year after expanding its current Baltimore facility.

cloud hosting dallas tierpointTierPoint’s plan calls for approximately 35,000 square feet of total space in BWI Technology Park, with approximately 23,000 square feet of raised floor space. With an initial investment of more than $10 million, the new carrier-neutral facility will include fully redundant and generator-backed power, and diverse high-speed network connectivity. TierPoint expects the new data center to be available to clients in the spring of 2018.

Compliance

The data center will use multi-layer physical security and will meet stringent regulatory compliance standards. The facility will also feature infrastructure support, office and shared office/workspace for TierPoint’s customers.

“The new data center allows us to respond to growing demand in the Baltimore/Washington DC region, including from the rapidly growing number of information and cybersecurity firms in the BWI corridor,” said Jim Weller, Vice President and General Manager of TierPoint. “In addition to the robust power and dense fiber optic connectivity available in the area, the location is easily accessible for current and future customers.”
