Barracuda Launches New Load Balancer FDC Model T740 Delivering 40 Gbps Throughput

Barracuda Networks, a provider of cloud-connected security and storage solutions, has extended its Load Balancer product family with the new Barracuda Load Balancer FDC model T740. Built on Intel architecture, Barracuda Load Balancer FDC would deliver 40 Gbps throughput at an industry disruptive price.

Designed for virtualized data centers, Barracuda Load Balancer FDC would provide scalability and high availability for websites and cloud hosting services. It monitors the health of servers and evenly distributes server loads – all while maintaining session persistence and a seamless user experience in the event that one or more servers become overburdened or unresponsive.

barracuda-firewall“Users and applications are becoming increasingly dispersed and creating new traffic patterns that are forcing organizations to reexamine their application delivery approach. The next-generation data center needs fast and effective load balancing of server traffic at the physical layer, where it can be handled more efficiently before it enters the application virtualization layer,” said Stephen Pao, GM Security, Barracuda. “The Barracuda Load Balancer FDC addresses these needs with high throughput load balancing, leveraging standard Intel Architecture Processors, to provide customers with a combination of high performance and cost efficiency that is disruptive in the industry.”

Serving different types of data center architectures, the Barracuda Load Balancer product family now includes the Barracuda Load Balancer ADC – providing consolidated delivery and security, and the Barracuda Load Balancer FDC – delivering high throughput traffic distribution.

“The Barracuda Load Balancer FDC makes the most of packet processing by using the DPDK and Intel architecture to provide fast 40 Gbps throughput for application delivery at a disruptive price-point,” said Bob Ghaffari, Director Enterprise & Appliances, Network Platforms Group, Intel Corporation. “The Barracuda Load Balancer FDC enables Application Delivery Networks that provide application availability, security, visibility, and acceleration – all crucial in modern virtualized data centers.”
