Global IaaS hosting and cloud services provider Leaseweb, with currently 80,000 dedicated servers under management, has announced the opening of a new data center location in the US in February, adding to Leaseweb’s 10 current data center locations across the US. Leaseweb USA’s Miami data center will be located in a private, secured space inside a Coresite facility.
The opening of Leaseweb’s new data center facility in Miami is meant to expand its hosting potential in the United States while creating a future pathway into South America. The Coresite facility in Miami was selected after Leaseweb’s ‘Data Center Operation’ performed a ‘selection audit’ that assessed security and compliance with local risk mitigation practices.
Leaseweb already offers customers hosting services on four continents in locations across Europe, Asia, Australia and North America.
“The opening of the data center in Miami will form a stepping stone to South America in line with Leaseweb’s global expansion plans,” said Lex Boost, CEO of Leaseweb USA. “This is another step forward in catering to our global customer base. It increases our US footprint by adding a key location to our collection of data centers and provides both current and future customers with a great way to bridge their business into South America.”
In addition to Miami, Leaseweb operates US data centers in Washington DC, New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and two in Dallas. It also has data center locations available in Amsterdam, London, Frankfurt, Singapore, Hong Kong and Sydney.
Hybrid Cloud Deployments
“Businesses are increasingly seeking a hybrid cloud service partner that can host all their data across the globe,” added Mr. Boost. “Leaseweb helps them to achieve this goal with our large number of locations in the United States and the rest of the world. With our global presence, Leaseweb can serve as a single point of contact, offer compliance with local requirements, and ‘speak the local language’ of every customer.”
As a European Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) hosting provider with its headquarters in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Leaseweb entered the US market in 2011 through Leaseweb USA, and has grown its presence organically and through acquisition. After purchasing Shore.net in 2013 and Nobis Technology Group in 2016, Leaseweb “substantially” increased its footprint in the US with the 2018 acquisition of Northern Virginia-based ServInt, a “renowned” brand in the US cloud and hosting industry.
