ICN.Bg, one of the largest public cloud providers in Bulgaria, has joined the OnApp Federation – one of the world’s largest public clouds. As a member of the OnApp Federation, ICN.Bg can give its customers on-demand access to more than 170 compute cloud and CDN locations, in 113 cities across 43 countries.
ICN.Bg will also be able to use the OnApp Federation to sell its own Tier III cloud hosting infrastructure in Sofia to cloud providers globally. ICN.Bg is the first Bulgarian provider to join the OnApp Federation.
Having access to the OnApp Federation means local businesses can use ICN.Bg to host their applications in new global markets, with “low-latency” performance for global users, while benefiting from local language support. ICN.Bg can now also offer much more granular control of where applications and data are hosted, which is important for public sector clients and other organizations concerned about data sovereignty.
“Since launching our cloud with OnApp, we have seen a sharp increase in cloud adoption from local businesses looking for more scalable, flexible application hosting,” said Julian Borislavov, CEO of ICN.Bg. “The OnApp Federation lets us extend our local cloud to the world, a key selling point for clients with location-dependent or latency-sensitive applications. We work with many e-commerce companies, design agencies, media and advertising companies, who can now instantly reach users in new markets. The Federation’s widespread compute cloud coverage also helps with larger clients’ need to control where data is hosted, for compliance.”
The OnApp Federation gives service providers like ICN.Bg access to global compute cloud and CDN infrastructure through a wholesale, on-demand marketplace. ICN.Bg can also use the marketplace to sell its own Tier III datacenter capacity in Sofia to other providers. This expands the OnApp Federation with new cloud locations in Central Europe, enable clients of other service providers to deploy applications close to users in central Europe, and enables ICN.Bg to monetize spare cloud capacity.
“Location is everything for businesses hosting their apps in the cloud,” said OnApp’s Chief Commercial Officer, Kosten Metreweli. “For e-commerce applications, CRM systems, content management systems, advertising platforms and a whole host of other applications, it’s essential to provide great performance for users wherever they are. Bulgarian cloud customers can now come to ICN.Bg, and use this global compute network to reach users and markets around the world.”
