Interxion, a provider of carrier and cloud-neutral colocation data center services in Europe, has announced that its customers can now build private connections to Office 365 via Azure ExpressRoute through the Interxion Cloud Connect platform.
“This announcement is further evidence of our focus on providing the ideal environment for IT service providers and enterprises to build and operate their hybrid solutions,” said Vincent in ’t Veld, Director of Cloud Segment, Interxion. “Today’s organizations are looking to benefit from the agility and scalability of cloud services, but at the same time demanding business grade performance. This announcement enables them to access all the benefits of Office 365, but with the latency and security requirements needed.”
Azure ExpressRoute for Office 365 provides organizations with the opportunity to establish a private, managed network connection to Office 365, enabling them to bypass the Internet and experience a more predictable network performance, with an SLA for guaranteed availability and additional data privacy.
The Interxion Cloud Connect platform would be a “highly scalable, fast and cost-effective” way to create hybrid, multi-cloud IT environments and to move business critical workloads and latency sensitive applications to the public cloud. Organizations can access ExpressRoute for Office 365 via this Cloud Connect platform, a bespoke cloud access service which allows customers to build and manage “private, high-performance and security-enhanced” connections to multiple clouds through a single connection.
Digital Realty
Interxion may be part of data center company Digital Realty soon. Digital Realty is reportedly interested in buying Interxion. This would be the second large data center acquisition of Digital Realty in a short period of time. Last summer, the company bought data center operator Telx for $1.9 billion.
Interxion serves a wide range of customers through 40 data centers in 11 European countries. With over 500 connectivity providers, 20 European Internet exchanges, and many leading cloud and digital media platforms across its footprint, Interxion has created connectivity, cloud, content and finance hubs that foster growing customer communities of interest.
