“This decision was the result of an extensive evaluation of several service providers that we felt could potentially help us with our IT infrastructure needs and deliver them within a very strict timeline,” said Mark Saponar, Chief Information Officer (CIO) for iBasis. “TierPoint senior executives took the time to meet with us face-to-face, and it was clear to us that their experience, industry knowledge and leadership were unmatched. When you combine that with a chance to open a new data center in a great location, to accommodate our current expansion and future growth, TierPoint was by far the best fit for our needs.”

With an initial investment of $20 million, in partnership with Compass Data Centers, TierPoint’s new facility in Allen, TX, includes 16,000 sq. ft. of raised floor, as well as infrastructure support and office space. Ultimate plans call for 90,000 square feet of total space, to be built in two more phases based on customer demand.

“iBasis is a very successful and innovative global telecom company,” said John Holland, TierPoint Senior Vice President, Sales. “We’re delighted to have them as an anchor client in our new facility and to partner with them to meet their current colocation and IT infrastructure needs. With the rapid growth of iBasis, we’re well positioned to help them adapt to new market dynamics and cope with future demand created by the mobile data explosion.”

TierPoint has one of the most geographically diversified footprints in the U.S., with 40 data centers in 20 markets and 8 multi- tenant cloud pods, connected by a coast-to-coast network.
