IQ Fiber Establishes Network Presence in Jacksonville with Cologix

Cologix has teamed with IQ Fiber to facilitate IQ Fiber’s network deployment in the Jacksonville region. IQ Fiber is a local home fiber-optic Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Northeast Florida. Cologix’s JAX1 and JAX2 colocation data centers are currently contracted for space and electricity, while IQ Fiber is actively deploying its 100 percent fiber-optic network in the Jacksonville metropolitan region.

IQ Fiber is now working on two significant fiber deployment projects in the Jacksonville metro region, which will service 60,000 residential customers and create over 100 new jobs in the area over the next three years.

“Fast, reliable Internet service is a necessity in today’s world,” said Ted Schremp, CEO at IQ Fiber. “IQ Fiber is headquartered in Jacksonville and is committed to bringing high-speed, high-capacity, reliable, 100% fiber-optic Internet to Northeast Florida residents who currently lack access to modern, symmetrical broadband service that only fiber can provide.”

Cologix’s data centers in Jacksonville would be among the most connected hubs in Florida, with direct access to subsea cables connecting to Central and South America, as well as fiber crossroads to Atlanta and Florida, for clients wishing to connect into the global digital economy.

“We are proud to work with partners such as IQ Fiber who are committed to help bridge the digital divide in underserved areas such as Jacksonville and Northeast Florida,” said Laura Ortman, President and Chief Revenue Officer at Cologix.

Cologix’s “digital edge” data centers and dense network and cloud interconnection hubs would complement IQ Fiber’s aim of offering the most up-to-date connectivity options to Jacksonville and Northeast Florida.

The Cologix JAX1 data center, located in Jacksonville’s core business area, is connected to JAX2 through dark fiber and provides colocation clients with the quickest routes available in the region. These data centers offer direct access to subsea cables connecting to Central and South America, as well as fiber crossroads to Atlanta and Florida, for clients wishing to connect into the global digital economy.

“We are proud to work with partners such as IQ Fiber who are committed to help bridge the digital divide in underserved areas such as Jacksonville and Northeast Florida,” said Laura Ortman, President and Chief Revenue Officer at Cologix. “We believe in enabling an ecosystem of networks, cloud providers and interconnection so that everyone can benefit from the rapid digital transformation that is taking place in cities across the country.”

With subterranean conduit and fiber-optic cables running from the main Internet backbone directly into individual customers’ houses, IQ Fiber would enable for symmetrical rates of up to 10 gigabits, offering high-speed Internet while sustaining rapid increase in Internet usage and demand. As a fiber-optic network provider, IQ Fiber has $21 million in projects underway in San Marco and Atlantic Beach, Florida. The new project would provide Northeast Florida with contemporary infrastructure, allowing this previously neglected region to fully participate in today’s digital economy.
