Cyber Security Cloud, a web application security company from Japan ranking 10th on Deloitte’s 2018 Technology Fast 50 list, has started its global operations by establishing its first local subsidiary in Seattle, Washington, United States.

After earning a place on the prestigious Deloitte Technology Fast 50 list, as well as 150th place on the Deloitte Asia Pacific Technology Fast 500 list in 2018 with revenue (sales) growth of 495.72% based on the past three accounting periods, and being recognized as one of the fastest growing security companies in the Asia Pacific region, Cyber Security Cloud decided to open its door for business in the global market.

Through this subsidiary in the United States, Cyber Security Cloud plans to strengthen local sales of its WafCharm solution, a service for automation of AWS WAF operations using AI & Big Data and focus on further expanding its business overseas. For the near future, Cyber Security Cloud (CSC) has set business expansion in the North American market as its top priority, as United States would account for 57% of the global spending in the cyber security market.

“We believe that success in the North American market, which has more than half the market size of the entire world, will lead to success in our overseas expansion,” said Hikaru Ohno, CEO of Cyber Security Cloud. “With the success in the US market, we will be able to introduce our services to companies around the globe and establish our global corporate value. Also, after the successful expansion with WafCharm, we plan to introduce our cloud based WAF service ‘Shadankun’ and other new services which will be developed exclusively for the overseas market. Through this, we plan to make our Domestic-Overseas sales ratio 50-50 by 2023.”

“Ever since the launch, WafCharm has been performing well above our expectations, and now with our local subsidiary based in Seattle, we are determined to further strengthen our partnership with AWS,” said Yoji Watanabe, CTO of Cyber Security Cloud.

CSC’s WafCharm is a service for automation of AWS WAF operations using AI and Big Data. Based on customer’s system configuration and access status, WafCharm uses AI to automatically identify and apply the most optimum signatures, based on hundreds of billions of Big Data cultivated through in-house developed cloud based WAF ‘Shadankun’, which has a high adoption rate in Japan. In October 2018, Cyber Security Cloud acquired a patent related to signature selection process of WAF.

“Ever since the launch, WafCharm has been performing well above our expectations, and now with our local subsidiary based in Seattle, we are determined to further strengthen our partnership with AWS,” said Yoji Watanabe, CTO of Cyber Security Cloud. “Our aim is to become a global leader in the field of web security and for that, we will continue to improve and develop new technology that makes use of vast amounts of data accumulated each day. And together with establishing our presence in the US market, we will strive to create a society in which “web security will be the norm” on a global scale.”
