Global cloud hosting and dedicated server provider Leaseweb will deploy 400 extra ‘high-performance’ dedicated servers for its customer Crytek. Leaseweb has been providing customized dedicated servers at various global data center locations to Crytek since 2015. Current dedicated server deployment in Leaseweb’s Europe and US facilities is meant to support Crytek’s launch of ‘Hunt: Showdown’ on Xbox One.
Headquartered in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, with studios in Kiev, Ukraine, and Istanbul, Turkey, Crytek has created multiple award-winning gaming titles, including the original Far Cry, the Crysis series, Ryse: Son of Rome, The Climb, Robinson: The Journey and Hunt: Showdown.
Working to deliver the scalability that Crytek needed, Leaseweb installed the 400 additional dedicated servers at the locations with the highest concentration of Crytek gamers, aiming to guarantee a faultless online gameplay experience.
“To launch a game like Hunt: Showdown, the dedicated server infrastructure – characterized by the ability to scale worldwide with one point of contact – is vitally important,” said Faruk Yerli, CEO of Crytek. “The physical proximity of servers, as well as network latency and speed determine the quality of the online gaming experience. An important measure of quality online gameplay is lag, which is why, ahead of this launch, we worked with Leaseweb to help us guarantee as little lag as possible.”
Leaseweb also provides global connectivity to Crytek through their network backbone that includes multiple Tier 1 IP networks.
