Limestone Networks Launches New Global CDN with OnApp

Limestone Networks, an IaaS provider of on-demand cloud hosting and dedicated servers, has built its own CDN (Content Delivery Network) usingĀ OnApp’s federated CDNĀ platform. The new Limestone Networks CDN would enable customers to accelerate delivery of web content, video and applications from twelve strategic high-performance locations in the U.S.,Ā South America,Ā EuropeĀ andĀ Asia-Pacific.

These twelve strategic CDN locations include Points-of-Presence (PoPs) in Limestone Networks’ own infrastructure, and hand-picked locations from the OnApp Federation, a global pool of cloud and CDN capacity that spans 113 cities in 43 countries. Limestone Networks can expand its CDN coverage with any of these locations, on-demand, and chose OnApp CDN for the greater reach and flexibility afforded by its federated deployment model.

limestone-networks-cdnLimestone Networks’ CDN is available now to existing customers and as a standalone service for users of other hosting platforms. Every CDN location provides all-SSD storage with a minimum 2,000 IOPS, 20GB RAM and a 1.5Gbps uplink, with URL signing, password protection, hotlink protection, geo-blocking, spider-blocking and SSL support as standard. Limestone Networks will also make its CDN available to its large reseller community, as part of its cloud hosting and dedicated hosting reseller plans.

CDN and Cloud Hosting Services

“CDN makes a huge difference to load times, for everything from images, CSS and Javascripts to patches and installers – and helps our customers reduce bandwidth usage and server load, which improves cost and stability too,” saidĀ Kris Andersen, Limestone Networks’ Business Development Director. “We chose OnApp CDN because of the flexibility it gives us to design services with exactly the right coverage and performance our customers need. We can take full advantage of our own infrastructure and extend it with other premium locations from the OnApp Federation. It gives us more control and a much better cost profile than we’d get from reselling a legacy CDN.”

The news follows the Q1 deployment ofĀ Limestone Networks cloud hosting services,Ā also running on OnApp, which include traditional cloud servers and pre-configured instances for Minecraft, Magento, WordPress and other popular applications.

OnApp launched inĀ July 2010. Today more than 3,000 service providers in 87 countries run on OnApp software. The company has 140 staff across the EU, U.S. andĀ Asia-PacificĀ and is headquartered inĀ London, UK.
