Lumen Integrates More of Its Platform Services with Microsoft Azure

Lumen Technologies (NYSE: LUMN) and Microsoft have announced a strategic partnership that will integrate Microsoft Azure capabilities into the Lumen platform. Mutual clients would benefit from Lumen’s worldwide Edge Computing services, which will enable them to operate their Microsoft-based solutions closer to where digital interactions occur. According to the companies, it results in one of the quickest and most secure platforms for apps and data.

“Working with Microsoft, Lumen will offer businesses and developers capabilities at the edge that are unique in the industry,” said Shaun Andrews, executive vice president and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for Lumen. “By deeply integrating more of our platform services with Microsoft Azure, we can help businesses quickly utilize their data for the insights they want and need, with the ability to support unique and customized use cases. We’re excited about the innovations and amazing new digital experiences we can enable for our mutual customers by extending Azure to the edge of our global network.”

Lumen Technologies will work with Microsoft Azure on numerous upcoming go-to-market initiatives to assist joint clients throughout the world, leveraging the Lumen Edge Experience Center’s resources, including:

  • A certified Azure deployment that will be able to run on Lumen Edge Computing nodes throughout the world, allowing Azure service platform users to access new low latency and high bandwidth use cases.
  • Solutions for the communication sector based on private 5G networks that would take advantage of Microsoft’s cloud-native software capabilities as well as the Lumen fiber network and Edge Computing capabilities. Customers would be able to improve their wireless networks and move workloads closer to digital interactions using these solutions.
  • Managed solutions for a wide variety of Microsoft software and cloud services for the enterprise sector to assist optimize company operations and support a customer’s complete workforce, regardless of location.

Lumen has chosen Azure as the primary public cloud provider for workloads that support its business clients, further cementing their partnership and altering how new service capabilities are delivered to the Lumen platform.

Access management will be standardized across all Lumen digital services, which will benefit enterprise customers. Lumen’s internal digital transformation will also rely on Azure, Microsoft Power Apps, and Microsoft 365 E5 Security & Compliance.

Lumen Technologies has also been designated as one of Microsoft’s preferred partners, with Lumen networking, infrastructure, and managed services supporting Azure internationally.

Enterprise clients would benefit from the Lumen platform providing even more high-performance network connections to all of their Azure services.
