Edge Bare Metal services from Lumen Technologies have been made available for the Asia Pacific (APAC) market. With this move, Lumen would show its sustained commitment to the region’s edge infrastructure and services, enabling business innovations and data-intensive applications of ‘Industry 4.0.’
With connections to the Lumen global fiber network, Lumen Edge Bare Metal provides dedicated, pay-as-you-go server hardware housed in various locations. With increased security and connectivity intended to isolate and safeguard data, it would offer great application performance thanks to operating on edge nodes optimized for 5 milliseconds or less latency across the Lumen fiber network.
According to Lumen, users of these bare metal services in APAC may concentrate on creating applications rather than on labor-intensive infrastructure setup thanks to the ability to operate workloads and applications on a single platform.
The bare metal services will make use of Lumen’s highly connected network in APAC as well as edge sites in Singapore and Japan.
Private Cloud

“We are excited to bring our bare metal edge computing solutions to the fast-growing APAC market. So much here is leading-edge. The region has a strong presence of enterprise customers using blockchain technologies to drive innovation,” said Francis Thangasamy, Managing Director at Lumen Technologies APAC. “APAC customers across key industries such as retail, manufacturing and financial services can now deploy applications and workloads that demand ultra-low latency at the edge. Our Lumen services deliver efficient and reliable operations that can keep this momentum going.”
In Singapore and Japan, the Lumen Edge Bare Metal service was first used for a worldwide blockchain charity organization. The international blockchain organization may assist its worldwide community of blockchain validators, as well as application programming interface suppliers and developers, by using Lumen’s service to provide high-speed edge computing infrastructure for node operations and developers on its network.
Lumen Edge Private Cloud, which offers pre-built infrastructure for high-performance private cloud computing connected to the Lumen global fiber network, is one of the other options currently offered Lumen in the region’s solutions offering. The Lumen network, which includes subsea cable networks, spans 643,000 global route kilometers of fiber, making it one of the largest and most interconnected networks in the world.
