Lumen Wins $1.5 Bn U.S. Defense Network Infrastructure Contract

Global fiber network provider Lumen Technologies has won a $1.5 billion contract from the U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). Under the terms of the contract, Lumen will provide critical communications services in the Asia Pacific region.

The U.S. Department of Defense intends to accomplish its national security goals across the 36-nation Asia Pacific area thanks to Lumen’s provision of high capacity, end-to-end communications services to the Defense Information Systems Network.

Lumen is providing their network infrastructure backbone and accompanying network transport and communications services to the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, the oldest and largest unified geographic combatant command charged with integrating U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps forces within a region that contains more than half of the world’s population.

Lumen Technologies manages approximately 400,000 route fiber miles while serving customers in more than 60 countries.

Wavelengths, Ethernet, Internet

The essential services delivered by Lumen Technologies, which include wavelengths, ethernet, and the Internet, would aid in defending American interests in an Alaska-inclusive area that is both diverse and militarily challenging. Lumen will act as a trusted supplier of secured network services that carry voice, video, data, and picture traffic.
