Managed cloud services provider, RapidScale, has announced their completion of upgrading to NetApp All Flash FAS from legacy FAS platforms. The move is a result of RapidScale’s continuous business expansion and the need for a more robust solution that can handle increasing I/O performance demands and high-volume customers.
RapidScale vetted multiple solutions and ultimately chose NetApp as their provider. NetApp All Flash FAS helps to significantly accelerate database transactions and virtual desktop response times. It would also allow RapidScale to deliver a high-performance experience to customers residing on solutions such as CloudServer (IaaS) and CloudDesktop (DaaS).
Instead of picking and choosing high-I/O workloads to move to flash storage, RapidScale moved all its customers’ production environments to NetApp AFF8060 systems to drive down latency in all four of its data centers.
“Delivering a high-performance experience to customers makes us more competitive,” said William Hiatt, CTO of RapidScale. “We’ve accelerated database transactions and virtual desktop response times up to 20x by moving to NetApp All Flash FAS. We view ‘all flash, all the time’ as a competitive differentiator for us against public cloud and other managed cloud providers. Moving to NetApp All Flash FAS made a lot of sense from a business standpoint, and it also helps our technical teams because they don’t have to spend time tuning individual workloads for optimal performance.”
RapidScale provides customers with fully managed cloud solutions including CloudDesktop (DaaS), CloudServer (IaaS), CloudRecovery (DRaaS), CloudMail (Hosted Exchange), and CloudBackup.
