Alibaba Cloud Unveils New Suite of Cloud Products for Asia Pacific Retail Market

"Asia Pacific is a unique market, and as a global cloud services provider with an Asian origin, we are committed to leverage our knowledge and experience to build a sustainable regional ecosystem and enrich our offerings to meet the needs of our customers in this digital age,” said Derek Wang, Chief Solution Architect, Alibaba Cloud International.

Alibaba Cloud has unveiled a new suite of cloud product offerings globally within the inter-related areas of cloud architecture, machine learning, Internet of Things (IoT) and security. Although the company has made its nine new cloud solutions available globally, the suite of managed cloud hosting products is specifically aimed at the Asia Pacific retail market.

In relation to data technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI), Alibaba Cloud is launching two key products. Alibaba’s Data Lake Analytics is a serverless service for customers to turn their cloud storage data into insights. PAI is Alibaba Cloud’s proprietary machine learning platform that would provide customers with limited AI background easy access to Alibaba Cloud’s AI capabilities. Alibaba Cloud’s IoT Platform, a new platform and toolkit will also be introduced to the global market.

“Asia Pacific is a unique market, and as a global cloud services provider with an Asian origin, we are committed to leverage our knowledge and experience to build a sustainable regional ecosystem and enrich our offerings to meet the needs of our customers in this digital age,” said Derek Wang, Chief Solution Architect, Alibaba Cloud International. “This new suite of offering includes products that are highly efficient, cost-effective, and some of them are the first of their kind in the industry.”

Furthermore, Alibaba Cloud will expand its cloud security offerings by launching its Anti-Bot Service – a software solution that protects users from online scalpers and crawlers. Hybrid Backup Recovery is another solution within Alibaba Cloud’s new suite of cloud product offerings. This online backup service is launched to protect critical business data, while Alibaba’s new product Dedicated Host would cater to customers’ regulatory, stability and business standard requirements when enjoying a dedicated hosting service on a public cloud.

Gaining Deeper Consumer Insights

Alibaba Cloud stated that its partner network is an important strategic asset for the company. With China Unicom Global, Alibaba Cloud is now launching Smart Access Gateway – a solution that supports a multiple location enterprise network. Other cloud solutions unveiled by Alibaba include Apsara Stack – hybrid cloud solutions, delivered in collaboration with HPE, and Elasticsearch – an open source tool developed by Elastic and now made available on Alibaba Cloud.

“These products all have specific features that meet an identified need within the flourishing retail market in Asia Pacific region,” added Mr. Wang. “Ecommerce is witnessing considerable growth and Alibaba Cloud, leveraging Alibaba Group’s development, can offer a mature ecosystem to support the regional retail sector. Using these products will help merchants deploy their resources more effectively, and gain deeper consumer insights. The technology available can also give our consumers better protection against fraud and an improved shopping experience.”

Alibaba Cloud until now has invested significant resources in the global market but especially in the Asia Pacific region, offering a large range of solutions to local businesses and SMEs. Last month, the company launched their second cloud Availability Zone in Asia Pacific and the first cloud-based Anti-DDoS Scrubbing Center in Malaysia, providing customers with new levels of protection against DDoS attacks.
