Real Estate Firm Selects tw telecom and Managed Hosting Provider Vazata to Deliver Networking Solutions

Briggs Freeman, one of the oldest privately held boutique real estate firm in Dallas, has selected tw telecom and its local partner, managed hosting provider Vazata, to provide a full suite of networking solutions for its five Dallas Metroplex area locations.

Prior to its engagement with tw telecom, Briggs Freeman was challenged with a “one size, fits all” copper-based networking solution that impacted its business with long lags in deployment time and significant limits impacting the IT needs and requirements of the company.

After consulting with Briggs Freeman, tw telecom was able to develop and build a full fiber-based networking solution that delivered the needed bandwidth, security and resiliency the company needed to manage one of the top-rated brokerage firm web sites in the country.

The new networking solution includes a five-node Business Ethernet network complete with a 100 mega Internet connection configured for Internet business continuity/disaster recovery in conjunction with VAZATA’s Internet offering, and two Voice T-1 lines. To ensure proper security of its network, Briggs Freeman will use tw telecom’s DDoS Scrubbing capability, a security service providing 24×7 monitoring, notification, and protection of their internet link against denial of service (DoS) attacks.

“Prior experience, as well as the level of expertise of the entire team, made my decision to select tw telecomas our service provider a no-brainer,” said Rocky Massey, director of information technologies, Briggs Freeman. “Our installation and conversion process with them was simple, efficient and effective, while providing a more robust solution at a 37 percent reduction in cost compared to our prior service provider.”

Disaster recovery

tw telecom worked closely with one of its local partners, VAZATA, a managed hosting and data center services company delivering hosted solutions for mission critical applications, to provide disaster recovery as a service. As part of the combined offering, VAZATA will spin up a “virtual machine” also known as an “instance” in the event of a disaster to provide a fully functioning virtual server and a secondary internet connection to ensure proper business continuity.

The service offered by managed hosting provider VAZATAS will ensure all five Briggs Freeman sites remain online during a disaster instance, something not available with their previous service offering.
