WP Engine, the managed WordPress hosting platform, has appointed Jason Teichman as Chief Operating Officer. As COO of WP Engine, Mr. Teichman will be responsible for overseeing the full customer journey of the business, driving operational excellence, global growth and amplifying the company’s customer-inspired culture.
Jason Teichman brings with him more than two decades of experience in running large, “digital-first” businesses and understanding the levers that drive shareholder value.
Most recently, Jason served as the CEO of Pond5, a marketplace for professional-quality video and multimedia licensing. Under Teichman’s leadership, Pond5 redesigned the buyer journey and marketplace experience, scaled the sales organization globally, opened up new lines of business, added distribution channels and built partnerships with some of the largest global media organizations. These results doubled the size of the company and significantly improved profitability, according to WP Engine.
“On behalf of the WP Engine team, I couldn’t be more excited to warmly welcome Jason to our executive team as COO,” said Heather Brunner, Chairwoman and CEO of WP Engine. “Everywhere companies and agencies are working to reimagine their businesses digitally. Now is the time for WP Engine to move even faster with our product innovation, expand upon our strategic partnerships and continue our mission to help our customers win online. Jason brings proven leadership in delivering value to our core customers and scaling digital-first businesses with excellence. As COO, Jason will help us accelerate our aspiration to be the digital experience platform of choice for businesses of all sizes and their trusted agency partners.”
Prior to Pond5, Teichman served as EVP and COO at Web.com (NASDAQ: WEB), where he helped businesses of all sizes drive growth via a platform of hosting, creative services and online-marketing solutions. During Jason’s tenure, the company grew from $200M to $700M in revenue, quadrupling shareholder value. He has also held executive leadership roles at Register.com and American Express.
“The fact that WordPress has grown to be more than 36 percent of the entire web is proof of its clear advantages as the world’s favorite and fastest-growing content management system,” said Jason Teichman, the newly appointed COO of WP Engine. “I’m incredibly excited to join a company at this stage, at this size with this type of market potential. We have a remarkable opportunity to help our customers win in their respective businesses by ushering in a new wave of digital experiences all built on WordPress.”
