UKFast has forgone a move south to London in favour of opening an office in Scotland. The office, situated in Scotland’s thriving central belt and in the center of Glasgow, has already employed five team members and is now embarking upon further recruitment to accommodate growth.
“Whether Scotland becomes independent or not, it will always be a huge part of global and British business,” said Lawrence Jones, CEO of UKFast. “This is why we have chosen to expand North before even considering going South to London – we’re moving up!”
The hosting provider’s services include cloud hosting, dedicated servers, managed hosting and colocation. Its northern growth comes soon after the launch of Scotland’s dedicated internet exchange point, IX Scotland – which will see connectivity in the country greatly boosted – and as plans to develop Scotland into a digital nation by 2020 continue to progress.

“As Scotland focuses more on its digital future and future-proofing its infrastructure, there is a clear gap in the market for us to help businesses in the country to grow,” Jones added. “We want to join the market in Scotland to provide our enterprise-grade solutions for all levels of business. We’re levelling the playing field with products like our eCloud which gives businesses access to a £20m cloud infrastructure.”
The opening of UKFast’s Scottish office comes as the hosting provider continues the £5m development of UKFast Campus – the firm’s new HQ on the edge of Manchester’s Science Park. The 50,000sq ft office space is equipped with a gym, creche, steam room, chill out area with pool tables and games consoles, and kennels.
