Midwest-Based Network and Cloud Hosting Provider, US Signal, Expands Fiber Network to Michigan Lakeshore

US Signal, a Midwest-based network, colocation and cloud hosting provider with over 14,000 miles of lit fiber and metro rings in 23 strategic tier-one, tier-two, and tier-three markets, has announced the expansion of its Midwest fiber network into the Holland metro market.

The project includes activating 100 miles of metro and long haul fiber to connect the cities of Holland, Zeeland and Hudsonville back to Grand Rapids. The expansion, to be completed in July, is expected to result in enhanced bandwidth options and competitive pricing for customers, allowing more economical service options.

“Customers are increasingly requiring more bandwidth,” said Kirk Dombek, vice president of business development, US Signal. “This expansion will allow us to reach more enterprises in Ottawa County and connect them to our regional network, cloud and data centers.”

fiber-networkUS Signal will build direct fiber access into businesses along the newly minted route, creating “low latency,” private, dedicated connections for Internet and other US Signal services. Businesses in the Holland and Zeeland areas would benefit from the expansion by having access to US Signal’s network backbone, a network that provides a full suite of colocation, security, and computing services. The expansion connects the Holland, Michigan area to US Signal’s network, which includes a newly completed 40,000 square foot data center in Grand Rapids.

“There is an increased need for fiber-based services in the lakeshore market and we expect demand to grow in 2015 and 2016,” added Dombek. “This expansion will allow us to serve our customers in the Holland market by providing alternatives to current cable carriers, along with unmatched end-to-end reliability and security.”

US Signal’s product portfolio includes a full suite of colocation, disaster recovery, security and cloud hosting services to complement its network offerings.
