Neustar Unveils UltraDDR for Improved DNS-based User Protection

Neustar

The introduction of UltraDDR (DNS Detection and Response), a recursive DNS-based protection service aimed at preventing network breaches, ransomware attacks, phishing, and supply chain compromise, as well as enforcing enterprise acceptable use policies for its users, has been made known by Neustar Security Services.

With the help of Neustar’s UltraDDR Protective DNS solution, businesses may stop communication between attackers and their targets before any harm is done. Protective DNS examines DNS requests and responds to threats. UltraDDR provides real-time observability of outbound network traffic using years’ worth of historical domain data, enabling businesses to identify and thwart supply chain, ransomware, phishing, and other assaults before they do harm.

“UltraDDR’s real-time detection and response capabilities can help prevent user actions from becoming an enterprise’s biggest security blind spot,” said Carlos Morales, Senior Vice President of Solutions at Neustar Security Services.

When a user’s security is breached, UltraDDR restricts that user’s outbound connections to risky websites online, preventing the compromised user’s infected device from remotely downloading malware or otherwise further jeopardizing a user’s infrastructure.

UltraDDR tracks attacker assets and habits in addition to observing, analyzing, and blocking suspicious communications, providing full insights into the whole threat. To reduce the noise and distraction caused by false positives and enable security teams to concentrate on actual threats, UltraDDR warnings may be coupled with alerts from EDR and NDR solutions.

“C-suites live in fear of becoming victimized by ransomware or a widespread data breach as the frequency of attacks is higher than ever while attackers are routinely exploiting business’ weakest security link – their people,” said Carlos Morales, Senior Vice President of Solutions at Neustar Security Services. “You may not be able to prevent one of your users from clicking on or opening something nefarious, but you can use protective DNS as a means of preventing outbound connections from infected hosts, nullifying the threat before it gets started. UltraDDR’s real-time detection and response capabilities can help prevent user actions from becoming an enterprise’s biggest security blind spot.”

Meeting Recursive DNS Requirements

Businesses may rely on UltraDDR to meet their recursive DNS requirements. With 27 nodes spread throughout the globe, the global recursive DNS resolution network included in UltraDDR would offer “blazing-fast” resolutions everywhere. As a comprehensive DNS resolver solution, UltraDDR would come with cutting-edge security options including DNSSEC, DNS over HTTPS (DoH), and DNS over TLS (DoT). To immediately fight against attacks on the UltraDDR DNS resolver network and ensure that DNS resolution availability is not jeopardized, the service also comes with built-in DNS DDoS protection using Neustar Security Services’ UltraDDoS Protect solution.

Additionally, UltraDDR has complete DNS firewall features to enforce acceptable use guidelines for business users. To provide a straightforward, unobtrusive method of implementing policy, administrators can designate categories of Internet traffic, such as adult, gambling, gaming, social media, et cetera, that are not permitted under business policy and opt to block or flag this traffic.

By integrating always-on DNS intelligence with security information and event management systems, firewalls, endpoint solutions, and more, UltraDDR can be installed in minutes to improve businesses’ current security investments. The solution supports a client that enables DNS settings to remain regardless of network connectivity and can continue to provide both web categorization and threat prevention. The client may be installed on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android devices.
