New German Data Center Firm Mainova WebHouse Appoints Managing Director

Mainova WebHouse, a newly founded and wholly owned subsidiary of German energy supplier Mainova AG, has planned to develop, operate and lease data centers to companies in the future. As a data center industry veteran, Volker Ludwig has been appointed Managing Director of Mainova WebHouse Management GmbH as of January 1, 2021.

Mainova AG is one of the largest regional energy suppliers in Germany, supplying around one million people in Hesse and neighboring provinces with electricity, gas, heat and water. The company is headquartered in Frankfurt am Main.

Volker Ludwig has over 20 years of experience in the data center sector. The 41-year-old Managing Director of Mainova WebHouse Management has previously worked as Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing for e-shelter and NTT Global Data Centers as well as Director Sales and Marketing for Interxion among others. Born in Hanau, today the sport-loving father of a son lives with his family in the Rhine-Main region.

2.3 Billion Euro

With 2,700 employees, Mainova AG generated sales of around 2.3 billion euros in 2019. The company provides more than one million people with electricity, gas, heat and water. In addition, the company has numerous corporate customers throughout Germany

Mainova subsidiary NRM Netzdienste Rhein-Main GmbH ensures energy and water supplies in Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region with its network covering more than 14,000KM. Mainova Servicedienste GmbH provides multiple services for customers while driving the energy transition by installing smart meters. SRM Straßenbeleuchtung Rhein-Main delivers street lighting in Frankfurt and other concession municipalities. Mainova AG’s largest shareholders include Stadtwerke Frankfurt am Main Holding (75.2 percent) and Munich-based Thüga (24.5 percent). The remaining shares (0.3 percent) are in free float.
