Vantage Data Centers

Vantage Data Centers’ Warsaw Campus, June 2022Vantage Data Centers, a global supplier of hyperscale data center campuses, has opened two new greenfield data center campuses in Berlin and Warsaw. The company’s first facility in Poland opened in Warsaw, while the development in Berlin is the company’s second location in Germany.

The new locations are part of Vantage’s $2 billion European development, which aims to provide best-in-class data center campuses to hyperscalers and cloud providers in two highly sought-after regions. Five of Vantage’s nine campuses in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) are now operational (Berlin I, Warsaw, Frankfurt I, Zurich and Cardiff).

Vantage Berlin I Campus

On its 13-acre (five-hectare) two-building facility near the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport, Vantage has constructed the first data center. When completed, the campus will have 32MW of power spread across 250,000 square feet (24,000 square meters) and will be home to some of the world’s most innovative technological firms.

“Launching new facilities in Berlin and Warsaw creates much needed outlets for pent-up demand from companies desiring a local presence in these regions,” said Antoine Boniface, president of EMEA at Vantage Data Centers.

Aside from its well-connected location and flexible expansion potential, the campus is notable for its environmentally friendly architecture, which provides clients with hyper-efficient cooling using outside air economization while using minimum water. Non-critical portions of the data center campus, such as office space, will be powered partially by solar energy, with waste heat being recycled and made available to the surrounding population.

“Data centers are the backbone of our digitalized world and therefore also an important part of the success of the industries based in Ludwigsfelde,” said Andreas Igel, mayor of Ludwigsfelde. “As a technology location, we are delighted that Vantage has chosen our city in the metropolitan area of Berlin for its new campus, and we extend a warm welcome to them.”

Vantage recently announced its second Frankfurt data center campus, located in Raunheim, which will open this fall. When fully developed, both Frankfurt campuses will provide clients a combined 95MW of available IT capacity in the Frankfurt region.

Warsaw Campus

Vantage has also finished the first data center on its Warsaw site, which spans 12 acres (five hectares). The two-data center campus, when completely constructed, would provide 48MW of critical IT capacity over 390,000 square feet (36,000 square meters).

This campus is placed near Poland’s largest airport, Warsaw-Chopin, at the crossroads of Western and Eastern Europe. Like all of Vantage’s data center campuses in North America and Europe, it employs renewable energy and has ultra-efficient cooling with outside air economization and little water usage. Electric car charging stations, as well as facilities including configurable workplaces, safe storage, and different meeting room alternatives, are available to clients.

“I’m very happy that a campus with data centers has been built in the Bielany district. We need new technologies, and as a district office, we support this development,” said Grzegorz Pietruczuk, mayor of Bielany. “It’s also worth mentioning that Vantage Data Centers is open to cooperating with the local community and supports many initiatives of our office since the beginning of their presence in the district.”

Frankfurt, Zurich, Cardiff, Milan, Johannesburg

Vantage has made major expenditures to improve its services and fulfill demand in new regions since entering the continent as a new market in February 2020. Vantage has operational campuses in Frankfurt, Zurich, and Cardiff, in addition to Berlin and Warsaw, and is currently establishing second campuses in Berlin and Frankfurt, as well as new data center campuses in Milan and Johannesburg.

“Launching new facilities in Berlin and Warsaw creates much needed outlets for pent-up demand from companies desiring a local presence in these regions,” said Antoine Boniface, president of EMEA at Vantage Data Centers. “We are thrilled to welcome customers to our latest data centers and look forward to continuing to serve their needs wherever they may be. Vantage now offers options in key markets for companies looking to expand their digital footprint across the entirety of Europe and beyond.”
