Cologix, a network neutral interconnection and colocation company headquartered in Denver, Colorado, has announced that DE-CIX, one of the world’s largest Internet exchange operators in multiple metro markets in Europe, the Middle East and North America, is now available through Cologix’s data center at the Dallas Infomart.
DE-CIX will provide a neutral IP exchange via its public peering fabric to “increase performance and reduce cost” by keeping Internet traffic local in the South Central U.S. DE-CIX is expected to be ready for service by the end of Q1 2016 and will expand to additional locations across the Dallas-Fort Worth metro region over time.
“Many key carriers have extensive fiber infrastructure in Dallas, making it a dominant hub for interconnection as well as a gateway for Latin American and Mexican carriers,” said Harald A. Summa, CEO of DE-CIX. “Dallas has the need for neutral and open interconnection, which is why we chose this market for expansion. We are excited to leverage Cologix’s robust, network-neutral Meet-Me-Room as an access point in Dallas and look forward to quickly building an open and thriving peering ecosystem in the Southwest.”
Cologix, across two facilities, operates 40,000 square feet of colocation data center space in the Dallas Infomart at 1950 North Stemmons Freeway. With 2N redundancy on the UPS and generator, Cologix’s data center provides access to 40+ networks through their Cologix controlled Fiber Vault/Meet-Me-Room.
“Cologix is committed to the Dallas peering community and shares DE-CIX’s vision and conviction that Dallas, with its extensive carrier ecosystem, is primed for a neutral and open peering platform,” said Graham Williams, chief operating officer (COO), Cologix. “Cologix is pleased to play our role in support of DE-CIX’s growth as we have done with the other exchanges we support across our platform: MICE (Minneapolis), OHIO-IX (Columbus), QIX (Montreal), TORIX (Toronto) and VANIX (Vancouver).”
DE-CIX serves 800+ carriers, ISPs and content networks from 60+ countries, including all leading international players in various metro markets in Europe, the Middle East and North America. With 4.9+ Terabits per second of peak traffic, DE-CIX Frankfurt is one of the world’s leading Internet exchanges.
