Dedicated Server Provider RapidSwitch Starts Offering 5TB and 6TB Helium-filled Hard Drives

Dedicated server provider RapidSwitch, part of UK cloud company iomart Group plc, is one of the first hosting providers to offer the new range of high capacity hard disk drives (HDDs) to support the enterprise storage needs of its clients. In November last year, Western Digital was the first vendor to introduce these helium-filled hard drives on the market.

seagate-6tbThe HDDs which come in 5TB and 6TB sizes are the latest development in hard disk storage, giving RapidSwitch’s customers increased storage densities for their hosted platforms.

The range of high capacity HHDs available from RapidSwitch are the fastest on the market. They include the helium-filled Ultrastar He6 from Western Digital, which was the first 6TB model to be released, and the recently announced Seagate Enterprise Capacity 3.5 HDD v4 which is aimed at cloud-based data centers where near-line storage is king.

Workload requirements

RapidSwitch offers solutions ampong which dedicated servers, public and private cloud hosting, and colocation. Parent company iomart owns and manages data centers at eight locations across the UK connected by a private fast fibre network.
