Following the recent acquisition by Host Europe Group of Telefónica Germany Online Services, the web hosting company has acquired domainfactory for an undisclosed consideration. The acquisition adds another German brand to Host Europe’s portfolio of web hosting brands, among which also UK-based companies 123-reg and reseller hosting provider Heart Internet.

domainfactory currently manages 1.1 million domains and serves approximately 173,000 customers – mostly in the small and medium enterprises and private professional market segments. Completion of the transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals.

This acquisition further enhances Host Europe Group’s presence and capabilities in the German mass web hosting market – having now almost 400,000 customers and managing in excess of 2 million domains.

In a joint statement, Sara Marburg and Jochen Tuchbreiter, founders of domainfactory, said: “Together with our first class team we have established a leading German hosting company. By joining forces with Host Europe we will be perfectly positioned to benefit from the continued strong market growth. There is a great strategic and cultural fit between Host Europe Group and domainfactory. Together, we can provide a broader range of solutions for the benefit of our customers.”

“This is our second acquisition in recent months,” said Thomas Vollrath, CEO of Host Europe Group. “This is consistent with our strategy of consolidating a highly fragmented hosting market in Europe. Under the leadership of the two founders, Sara Marburg and Jochen Tuchbreiter, domainfactory has enjoyed good growth and developed a strong reputation for high quality service and customer care which makes it a perfect fit with Host Europe Group.”
