managed-hostingXBT Holding Ltd., a global managed hosting provider with more than 16,000 servers throughout seven subsidiaries, has acquired the datacenter.com domain name, for the reported amount of $500,000. Previously, XBT paid $100,000 to acquire ddos.com and $300,000 to acquire the servers.com.

By obtaining datacenter.com, XBT has secured a highly sought after domain. XBT is already utilizing 5 Tier IV datacenters in Dallas, Amsterdam, Luxembourg, Hyderabad and Singapore and has stated intentions of building its own Tier IV datacenter, in Dallas, by the end of the year. The domain name would fit the holding’s data center development plans.

Domain names

Domain names are extremely valued by XBT. The increase in internet business and social media expansion are some of the factors that have reduced the pool of domain names. Dot com domains are the most desirable ones and the majority of the still available are either too long or unappealing.

In the last 2 years, XBT also acquired the servers.com and ddos.com domain names, as well as Root.lu and 800-hosting.

Founded in 2005, XBT has offices in eight countries. Its hosting solutions include managed dedicated hosting, colocation, shared and VPS hosting, cloud hosting and application development services.
