NexGen Networks, a global provider of ‘ultra high-speed’ fiber-optic services, has established a new Point of Presence (PoP) in the Verizon Enterprise NAP of the Americas data center facility in Miami, Florida – a key hub in the global Internet infrastructure.
“Our Point of Presence in the NAP of the Americas data center places our services directly at the internet gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean,” said Jeff Barth, VP of Sales at NexGen Networks. “It affords us a new level of connectivity in the region as we improve and extend our global network and seek new opportunities in the various Latin American markets.”
The NAP of the Americas data center is one of the Internet’s major nerve centers. It would be an important stopover for a substantial section of global Internet traffic, with the vast majority of Central and South American data traffic flowing through the Verizon facility on its way to a final destination.
The 750,000 square-foot data center building is highly secured and located in one of the highest parts of Miami that would be able to resist the force of a Category 5 hurricane thanks to the 7-inch thick steel-reinforced concrete panels making up its exterior.
