Mobile operator NTT DOCOMO from Japan has adopted Limelight Networks’ EdgeXtend content delivery network solution. This CDN solution would allow NTT DOCOMO to expand its content business and improve user experiences for thousands of viewers across Japan.
DOCOMO can simply boost content delivery to its clients by storing material from its network of 13 services using Limelight’s EdgeXtend CDN solution. Caching material on-network would greatly decrease the requirement to retrieve content from a remote origin, which can save money. Furthermore, providing high-quality information from local on-net servers would lower latency while boosting reliability.
DOCOMO can now improve streaming video distribution with the extra performance benefits of Limelight’s CDN software and Edge Cache hardware inside their own network. Furthermore, operations may easily balance steady-state and fail-over traffic, as well as prioritize specific types of traffic delivery.
