Global data center, cloud, networking and managed services giant NTT has announced the launch of its Private 5G platform (P5G), a globally available private LTE/5G Network-as-a-Service platform. The NTT Private 5G platform offers a set of services designed to assist Chief Information Officers and Chief Digital Officers in achieving company goals and unlocking creative business models.
NTT P5G uses design thinking principles to integrate security, control, and privacy by design. According to NTT, this will result in clear performance and cost savings. The platform, which is built on a cloud-native architecture, may be deployed through cloud, on-premises, or at the edge.
The NTT P5G platform would come pre-integrated with “industry-leading” network and software partners, allowing businesses to easily secure, grow, and segment their networks. NTT P5’s patent-pending MicroSlicing technology would enable mission-critical apps to benefit from the benefits of private 5G.
“As data and mobility become more critical to business operations, 5G will enable enterprises to reinvent business operations,” said Eric Clark, NTT Data Services North America Chief Digital and Strategy Officer. “With faster speeds and more data, 5G will facilitate advances in artificial intelligence, automation, and IoT. How a company collects, stores, and uses that data in real-time will be critical to success, and NTT is well-positioned to guide our clients on this journey.”
Enterprise Digital Transformation
NTT’s aim for private 5G is to fuel enterprise digital transformation with cloud-based economics and automation. NTT says it is committed to accelerating the global deployment of private 5G to address the rapidly changing needs of businesses in areas such as automotive, manufacturing, healthcare, and retail, resulting in unprecedented data, connectivity, security, and communications alignment.
“The private 5G technology has the potential to fundamentally change the way enterprises drive digital transformation,” said Ghassan Abdo, Research Vice President from IDC. “NTT has a strong track record of focusing on breadth of service, and NTT P5G capabilities extend far beyond basic connectivity to offer a comprehensive suite of services geared toward important business outcomes.”
Private 5G Service Portfolio

Shahid Ahmed, a veteran of the wireless industry, has been named EVP of New Ventures and Innovation at NTT, where he will head the company’s Private 5G service portfolio, deliver digital transformation outcomes for clients, and strengthen ecosystem engagement. Shahid Ahmed has over 25 years of technological experience, with leadership roles at Accenture, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Sprint. In addition, he has been appointed as an advisor to the Federal Communications Commission of the United States (FCC).
“Global enterprises are looking for a single private 5G solution to deploy across multiple countries. They need one truly private network, one point of accountability, one management platform, and one solution partner that eliminates all the major friction points across the entire global footprint of the enterprise,” said Shahid Ahmed, EVP New Ventures and Innovation, NTT. “Our NTT P5G offering supports many of the CXO requirements today, and we will continue to invest in P5G as enterprise adoption evolves.”
