Red Hat has recently declared that the organization is now in a strategic partnership with Nutanix to build a powerful solution for creating, scaling, and managing cloud-native applications on-premises and in hybrid clouds.
The partnership between both firms will integrate industry-leading technologies, enabling installation, interoperability, and management of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat OpenShift with Nutanix Cloud Platform, consisting of Nutanix AOS and AHV.
Red Hat is one of the most popular providers of enterprise open-source solutions. It focuses on helping customers in collaborating with new and existing IT applications, create cloud-native applications, etc.
Nutanix is a cloud software providing company that is a pioneer in hyper-converged infrastructure solutions, making clouds invisible, and allowing the customers to focus more on their business.
“This partnership brings together Red Hat’s industry-leading cloud native solutions with the simplicity, flexibility and resilience of the Nutanix Cloud Platform,” said Rajiv Ramaswami, president and CEO, Nutanix. “Together, our solutions provide customers with a full stack platform to build, scale, and manage containerized and virtualized cloud native applications in a hybrid multicloud environment.”
“We have a vision to enable open hybrid clouds, where customers have choice and flexibility,” said Paul Cormier, president and CEO, Red Hat. “Our partnership with Nutanix brings a leading hyperconverged offering to the open hybrid cloud, driving greater choice for our joint customers in how they deploy their containerized workloads and backed by a joint support experience.”
Major Aspects of The Partnership
Nutanix AHV is a Red Hat certified hypervisor providing full support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux and OpenShift of Nutanix Cloud Platform. Nutanix’s built-in hypervisor, AHV, for Red Hat Enterprise Linux and OpenShift certifications would provide an easy-to-apply full-stack solution to customers for their virtualized and containerized cloud-native applications. This certification also offers Red Hat customers an additional choice in hypervisor deployments, especially considering the scenario that a lot of organizations explore modern and innovative virtualization technologies.
Super smooth support experience offering quick resolution times for joint customers. All the customers will also be able to connect any of the organizations, Red Hat or Nutanix, with support issues. The collaboration between both companies will focus more on providing best in class support experience for the interoperability of the certified products.
Nutanix Cloud Platform is now a prioritized choice for HCI for Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat OpenShift. This will also allow the customers to deploy virtualized and containerized workloads on hyper-converged infrastructure, building on the combined benefits of Red Hat’s open hybrid cloud technologies and Nutanix’s hyper-converged offerings.
A joint engineering roadmap would offer robust interoperability. Red Hat and Nutanix will be dedicated to providing continuous testing of Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat Enterprise Linux with Nutanix AHV to offer robust interoperability. Both the organizations will integrate to provide more interoperability of the certified products.
Hybrid Cloud, Kubernetes Deployments

Red Hat OpenShift is being considered as a preference for enterprise full stack Kubernetes on the Nutanix Cloud Platform. Clients who are going to run Red Hat Open Shift or Red Hat Enterprise Linux on hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) will be authorized to use “a top-notch” cloud platform from Nutanix that consists of both AHV and Nutanix AOS.
Due to its distributed architecture, Nutanix Cloud Platform delivers an IT environment that would be scalable and resilient. Moreover, it is highly compatible for enterprise deployments of Red Hat OpenShift at scale. The platform also gets fully integrated unified storage, addressing many obstacles faced at the time of configuring and managing storage for stateful containers.
“Organizations around the world are deploying an increasingly diverse mix of modern and cloud-native workloads,” said Eric Sheppard, research vice president, IDC. “This Red Hat and Nutanix partnership, and in particular the collaborative support agreement between the two companies, helps to bring virtualized applications and Red Hat OpenShift-based containerized workloads running on Nutanix’s Cloud Platform together in a way that will benefit exactly these types of organizations and help to drive increased simplicity, agility, scalability within today’s complex hybrid-cloud world.”
