Nutanix, Cyxtera, Intel and Others Partner to Roll Out Federal Innovation Lab

Nutanix and Cyxtera have recently announced their collaboration to roll out the first Nutanix Federal Innovation Lab which will be based on Cyxtera’s digital exchange and Enterprise Bare Metal. The Federal Innovation Lab, located in a Cyxtera data center in Northern Virginia, will enable users to develop and test proof-of-concepts and applications for federal clients utilizing on-demand infrastructure that can handle hybrid multicloud solutions via a single operating system.

Talking about Nutanix, it is cloud software provider and a pioneer in hyper-converged infrastructure solutions, making the cloud invisible, so that customers can focus more on their business outcomes. Cyxtera on the other hand provides data center and interconnection services. It operates a footprint of more than 60 data centers in 28 markets around the world. Its services are being used by more than 2300 enterprises and US federal government agencies.

The Nutanix Federal Innovation Lab has been developed and deployed in collaboration with Intel and other technology solution providers. It offers an ecosystem of dynamic, seamless, on-demand capabilities to help support testing of the most demanding workload requirements, at scale. The Innovation Lab is highly devoted to translating technology innovation into proofs of concept to simplify and automate US government agency IT environments for their journey to hybrid cloud.

“The Nutanix Federal Innovation Lab is first-of-its-kind and allows our partners to come together immediately in a large, persistent Nutanix environment to quickly create IT results for Federal customers exploring our capabilities,” said Chip George, VP Public Sector at Nutanix.

The Innovation Lab’s environment is based on the Nutanix Cloud Platform that has been recently certified for placement on the DoDIN Approved Products List which combines virtualization, networking, compute, storage, containers, and security. The cloud platform by Nutanix would simplify the day-to-day management of a government agency’s IT environment. It would also include faster deployment and lesser downtime along with more efficient infrastructure management. This may result in considerable cost savings and providing free time to IT teams so that they can move their focus on strategic efforts.

It also supports extension from the private cloud to the AWS GovCloud, delivering the most appropriate solution to aid US agencies in accepting multi-cloud and hybrid architecture.

Solutions created in the lab environment can be easily transferred to production across Cyxtera digital exchange, a software programmable, purpose-built, and massively scalable network infrastructure solution designed to meet the needs of US Federal Agencies. Cyxtera digital exchange includes processes, tools, and security controls specially designed for federal government workloads and designated as FedRAMP Ready at the High Impact level with government security and compliance needs.

Private Cloud Hybrid Multi-Cloud, Machine Learning

Integrating Cyxtera’s intelligent automation and rapid connectivity with Nutanix Cloud Platform, the Federal Innovation Lab will support a variety of use cases and workloads consisting of private cloud, end-user computing, dev/test, hybrid multi-cloud, disaster recovery, remote and branch office, and edge, data storage, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

The innovation lab would offer an opportunity for government agencies to work with a “next-generation” hybrid multi-cloud environment to address highly critical IT needs within US government. The Federal Innovation Lab can deliver an environment that simulates the needs of FedRAMP High controls on a single operating platform to create and test solutions for the delivery of mission-critical applications to agencies looking to support an infrastructure, database requirements, end-user computing, and DevSecOps.
