Hybrid multicloud computing supplier Nutanix has announced the global launch of a new product range to meet quickly changing customer needs. The Nutanix Cloud Platform provides a standard operating architecture for public, private, and hybrid clouds. With this introduction, the firm claims to have simplified clients’ digital transitions even more by giving a range of products that would be simple to use.

The new product portfolio would reduce the complexity sometimes involved with providing a complete range of hybrid cloud services across different environments, in addition to making it easier for clients to execute on their hybrid multicloud strategy. This is accomplished through streamlining packaging, metering, and pricing to make it easier for clients to prepare for changing demands, such as workload growth, cloud preferences, and technology upgrades. Nutanix tested designs and deployment best practices for common use cases will help customers speed up their cloud journey even more.
“Nutanix’s growth started as a more flexible, easier to manage alternative to SAN storage, and has grown into a full cloud platform from virtualization to networking to security, and supports all workloads across on-premises and public clouds,” said Ashish Nadkarni, Group Vice President, Infrastructure Systems, Platforms and Technologies Group at IDC. “The new product portfolio delivers even more flexibility to help customers adapt to their business’ changing needs.”
Virtual Machines and Containers
With its innovative HCI (hyperconverged infrastructure) technology as the cornerstone, Nutanix has established an enterprise-ready, unified cloud platform. The following items are included in the new, simpler portfolio:
Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) – delivers a full software solution for virtual machines and containers, including virtual computing, storage, and networking, that can be deployed in private data centers on your own hardware or in public clouds, with built-in resilience, self-healing, performance, disaster recovery, and security. Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2), which runs NCI on public cloud, allows customers to accelerate their transition to hybrid cloud for agility, elasticity, and application modernization while maintaining the operational efficiency of a unified cloud environment with common management and policies across clouds. Cloud bursting, disaster recovery, and datacenter lift and move are all common use cases.
Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) – helps companies accelerate their cloud journey by bringing simplicity and ease of use to developing and managing cloud installations by enabling uniform governance across private and public clouds. NCM makes it easier for businesses to install, run, and manage their applications by providing intelligent operations such as monitoring, analytics, and automatic remediation. With intelligent resource optimization and exact insight into cloud metering and chargeback, it also fosters financial responsibility and cost governance. Finally, it unifies workload and data security operations across clouds, automating incident response with intelligent analysis and compliance tools.
Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) – provides distributed and software-defined storage for different protocols (volumes, files, and objects) to support a wide range of applications deployed anywhere – private, public, or hybrid cloud – with license portability in between. Multiple interfaces are simplified by a single point of management for all storage resources, allowing non-storage professionals to perform most day-to-day storage and data management chores. The solution’s intelligent analytics deliver data visibility and deep insights for data governance and security.
Nutanix Database Service (NDB) – provides comprehensive automation for provisioning, scaling, patching, protecting, and cloning database instances across hybrid multicloud systems for database engines including PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle Database. NDB enables clients to provide Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) and an easy-to-use self-service database experience to their developers for both new and existing databases on-premises and in the public cloud.
Nutanix End User Computing Solutions – using public, private, and hybrid cloud infrastructure, provide virtual apps and desktops to consumers all over the world. They provide per-user licensing for NCI, which makes capacity planning easier by aligning the infrastructure cost model to the end-user computing platform. They also feature a Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) platform that can execute end user workloads on NCI, public clouds, or hybrid clouds.
“The Nutanix Cloud Platform builds on our market leading hyperconverged infrastructure software to deliver a consistent cloud operating model for enterprises,” said Thomas Cornely, Senior Vice President Product Management at Nutanix. “Our new, simplified portfolio brings together our rich product capabilities across on-premises and public clouds to deliver consistent infrastructure, data services, management, and operations for applications in virtual machines and containers.”
