Open Edge Server Wiwynn ES200 Turns ‘OCP Inspired’

Wiwynn (TWSE: 6669), a global data center cloud IT infrastructure vendor, has announced that its ES200 edge server has been accepted into the Open Compute Project (OCP) as an OCP Inspired platform.

The short-depth edge server is intended to meet the growing need for computing capacity at edge locations for applications such as real-time AI inference, on-site data analytics, and multi-channel video processing. To support further service innovation at the edge, these applications are frequently employed in vertical domains such as retail, smart factories, and content delivery networks (CDN).

The Wiwynn ES200 is a 2U twin socket edge server featuring an Intel Xeon Scalable CPU 3rd Generation (codename: Ice Lake). Its ubiquitous performance, along with NUMA-balancing, would allow each installed processor to use its full processing capability to handle diverse tasks independently without sacrificing communication bottlenecks between CPUs.

Two double-width add-in cards may be used in the extra PCIe Gen4 x16 slots, which are ideal for AI inference acceleration, video transcoding, data analytics, or more network connections. Wiwynn has pre-tested and validated NVIDIA A2 and A30 GPUs for the ES200 to meet its customers’ compute acceleration requirements in a variety of situations.

In addition, the ES200 is NEBS-3 compatible and features a small formfactor with a short depth. It can fit in a variety of edge sites while providing comprehensive functioning, even under difficult working conditions. It would include a lot of storage and networking choices, as well as a lot of growth potential. The ES200 supports quick local data processing and high-bandwidth network connections thanks to configurable storage modules made up of EDSFF (E1.S) or U.2 SSD and two OCP NIC 3.0 cards.
