Open Source Storage Company Nexenta Unveils New Open Software Defined Storage SaaS Suite

nexenta-software-defined-storageNexenta, a provider of Open Software-Defined Storage (OpenSDS) software solutions for hybrid and multi-cloud enterprise environments, owner of 50 patents, has launched NexentaCloud – a new product family of cloud-native storage solutions.

Designed and built as an organic extension of Nexenta’s Open SDS solution, the new family of solutions would allow users to extend the “benefits” of Nexenta’s solution onto the cloud.

The first product to be announced is NexentaCloud available in AWS Marketplace. NexentaCloud for Amazon Web Services (AWS Cloud) allows enterprises to run their core business applications, which utilize file and block storage native to AWS Cloud, while fully integrating with on-premises solutions. Offering enterprise-grade features such as snapshots, cloning, thin provisioning and data compression, NexentaCloud for AWS would deliver a comprehensive data storage solution that supports business-critical functions including business continuity and self-service test/development.

“By further extending our enterprise OpenSDS technology to the cloud, NexentaCloud for AWS lets organizations, especially those who have historically utilized on-premises NAS and SAN server platforms, continue their journey to a hybrid cloud environment,” said Tarkan Maner, Chairman and CEO at Nexenta. “NexentaCloud is the next step in our vision to disrupt the status quo. NexentaCloud is the next step in our evolution. It enables customers to expand their data storage assets from on-premises to the cloud, and deliver improved manageability, reliability, and scalability with predictive intelligence.”

Key features of NexentaCloud for AWS would include:

  • Replication – integrated management of replication and storage operations for all workloads
  • Advanced Analytics Insights – utilizes deep storage analytics across data centers and cloud environments
  • Pre-configured AWS cloud instances – optimized for size and performance
  • Lower TCO – “optimizes storage costs with rapid deployment and removal of storage solutions”

“NexentaCloud is the next step in the evolution of our OpenSDS journey,” said Michael Letschin, Field Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Nexenta. “Not only does it support numerous use cases including disaster recovery, backup and data protection in the cloud, but it’s so simple to use. Users get one integrated way to replicate and manage their storage operations. The storage analytics we can now offer, work across on-premises and cloud environments, which means users have access to the most in-depth knowledge, creating peace of mind that everything is stored and protected, and most importantly keeps costs optimized. Our customers love it as illustrated by Ingrooves.”
