Orange Business, OneWeb Partner to Expand Connectivity Through Satellites

OneWeb

Orange Business and OneWeb have signed a distribution agreement to expand connectivity services across Europe, Africa, Latin America, and other global regions. The partnership aims to improve and expand Orange Businessā€™s overall connectivity, particularly in rural and remote areas, while enhancing Orangeā€™s offerings with high broadband, resilient, and low latency solutions that benefit small, medium, and large enterprises.

With OneWebā€™s LEO technology, Orange Business can complement its position for backhauling in hard-to-reach regions, particularly in Africa. The integration would help increase user satisfaction and enable new applications and OTT services, providing a ā€œhigh-quality, low latency end-user service experienceā€ that previously could not be served.

Low Earth orbit (LEO) technology is a type of satellite communication technology that operates in the Earthā€™s lower atmosphere, typically at altitudes of 1,200 km or less. Unlike traditional geostationary satellites that orbit at higher altitudes, LEO satellites orbit much closer to the Earth’s surface, resulting in lower latency and improved communication speeds.

LEO technology has gained popularity in recent years due to its ability to provide high-speed internet connectivity to underserved and remote areas. By using constellations of small satellites orbiting the Earth, LEO technology can offer global coverage and low-latency connections, making it an ideal solution for businesses and individuals who require fast and reliable internet access in hard-to-reach locations.

ā€œAt Orange, we believe that satellite is a promising and complementary technology showcasing many recent innovations that will benefit enterprises all around the word and will accelerate the digital inclusion of populations within our subsidiaries in Africa and the Middle East,ā€ said Jean-Louis Le Roux, Executive Vice President, Orange International Networks Infrastructures & Services. ā€œWe are therefore delighted to partner with OneWeb as it will allow us to continue deploying high quality networks in all underserved parts of the world.ā€

Broadband Internet Globally

The partnership aims to deliver enhanced connectivity to enterprise customers and telco operators in different regions of the world.

LEO technology can provide businesses with a range of benefits that can help them to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and gain a competitive edge. By enabling businesses to access high-speed Internet, improve logistics and supply chain management, enhance communication, collect valuable data, and respond more effectively to emergencies, LEO technology can help businesses to stay ahead.

ā€œThis is an exciting partnership that will help improve and expand connectivity globally,ā€ said Neil Masterson, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at OneWeb. ā€œOrangeā€™s market-leading position across several continents, coupled with OneWebā€™s unique network and LEO technology, will help bridge digital divides and ensure access to efficient, high-quality, and reliable broadband Internet is available to customers in Europe, Latin America, Africa and other locations across the world.ā€
