OVHcloud Acquires ForePaaS to Expand Its PaaS Offerings

Global cloud hosting provider OVHcloud has acquired ForePaaS, a unified platform that specializes in data analytics, machine learning (ML), and artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Based in Paris and San Francisco, ForePaaS raised a $10 million Series A funding round in late 2017 from Elaia Partners, Hi Inov, and Calao Finance. OVHcloud serves 1.6 million customers in over 140 countries.

As of now, the 23 members of the ForePaaS teams, as well as its founders, have joined the OVHcloud Group. They will start to work on a set of solutions that will actively contribute to the implementation of OVHcloud’s growth acceleration plan by enhancing its Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offering.

“This acquisition of technology bricks and skills will allow us to serve an increasing breadth of use cases for our clients who are looking for agile solutions to facilitate their adoption of the cloud,” said Thierry Souche, CTO at OVHcloud.

ForePaaS has differentiated itself with key clients since its launch in 2015, owing to its comprehensive solution that helps users to start, simplify, and expedite machine learning and data analytics projects. The ForePaaS package covers a wide range of use cases for comprehensively managing the data value chain and developing key data-driven applications for analysis, corporate intelligence, and process optimization.

The ForePaaS solution’s simplicity of use and deployment has allowed the firm to swiftly grow an international customer base. Klépierre and Gefco have both incorporated its knowledge in Europe. In Asia, ForePaaS has formed a solid cooperation with the Mistubishi Research Institute (MRI), which will be expanded further throughout this operation.

“By acquiring ForePaaS, we are endowing ourselves with an expert team that will complete the spectrum of OVHcloud’s competencies to fast-track the delivery of an expanded portfolio of development environments in the Platform as a Service (PaaS) segment,” said Thierry Souche, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of OVHcloud. “This acquisition of technology bricks and skills will allow us to serve an increasing breadth of use cases for our clients who are looking for agile solutions to facilitate their adoption of the cloud and give them full control over the lifecycle of their data.”

OVHcloud’s Acquisition Strategy

This new knowledge will eventually be included into the development environments that OVHcloud provides to its 1.6 million clients across the world. Developers will be given a full set of solutions to handle the whole data value chain, from storage to database management to artificial intelligence algorithms, based on a consistent roadmap. The ForePaaS analytics platform’s technological foundations will therefore be at the heart of OVHcloud’s Platform-as-a-Service value proposition.

These new solutions will be completely integrated into OVHcloud’s value proposition, which strives to provide the greatest price-performance ratio technologies in an open, reversible, predictable, and transparent environment.

Following the recent acquisitions of OpenIO, Exten Technologies, and BuyDRM, OVHcloud will continue its acquisition strategy to speed the implementation of PaaS solutions on an open and trustworthy infrastructure that allows unrestricted data sovereignty. OVHcloud now offers over 70 PaaS solutions, with ambitions to extend to 80 by the end of August 2022.
