phoenixNAP, a global IaaS provider delivering services including cloud infrastructure, dedicated servers, and colocation, is now partnering with Pliops, a supplier of data processors for cloud and enterprise data centers. Through this partnership, phoenixNAP offers clients who care about performance on-demand cloud services.

phoenixNAP is hosting the “ground-breaking” Pliops Extreme Data Processor (XDP) on its Bare Metal Cloud (BMC) infrastructure and making it available as-a-service.

Automated provisioning of Pliops-powered instances may be done in a matter of minutes thanks to the combination of Pliops XDP and phoenixNAP BMC. This would enable enterprises to access cutting-edge compute resources that increase workload and data capacity scalability while streamlining infrastructure administration tasks.

“Our technology collaborations continue to deliver unique, workload-optimized solutions to meet sophisticated IT needs,” said Ron Cadwell, CEO at phoenixNAP. “The Pliops XDP extends the storage capabilities of BMC, delivering advanced CPU efficiency and enabling accelerated processing of data-intensive applications and workloads. The automated provisioning model of BMC makes it possible for Pliops-powered instances to be deployed in a matter of minutes, which also helps speed up development and release cycles. Development teams and others seeking these benefits can now take advantage of this advanced technology without having to change their software.”

Bare Metal Cloud Platform

phoenixNAP BMC is an Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) hosting platform that is prepared for the cloud and enables on-demand provisioning of real machines using an API or other tools. BMC would make it simple to provide and manage non-virtualized single-tenant servers that are designed to execute DevOps workloads. It is fully automated and highly flexible.

Uri Beitler, Founder and CEO of Pliops
“The combination of phoenixNAP’s BMC and Pliops XDP enables the most demanding applications to achieve the highest performance, reliability and storage capacity at the lowest possible cost,” said Uri Beitler, Founder and CEO of Pliops.

The addition of Pliops XDP to BMC would reduce substantial performance bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the storage system, allowing the data center architecture to scale more effectively and affordably. The XDP would increase the potential of current architectures by addressing current data efficiency concerns. This would enable cloud architects and DevOps engineers to more quickly scale their computing and storage resources and give their apps cutting-edge processing capabilities.

“By delivering Pliops XDP on an as-a-service model, we enable organizations to have easier access to advanced data and storage processing capabilities,” said Uri Beitler, Founder and CEO of Pliops. “The combination of phoenixNAP’s BMC and Pliops XDP enables the most demanding applications to achieve the highest performance, reliability and storage capacity at the lowest possible cost.”

Data-Intensive Applications

“Through the strategic integration with Pliops, BMC now offers new performance and storage optimization capabilities,” said Ian McClarty, President at phoenixNAP. “Pre-installed on selected BMC instances, Pliops XDP frees the CPU, accelerates storage performance, and increases usable storage capacity to enable more efficient data processing for data-intensive applications. Organizations can leverage it to scale workloads, get more from their SSD storage, and manage it more efficiently. We are excited to work with Pliops to expand BMC capabilities with this innovative functionality and enable advanced CPU optimization for databases, analytics and machine learning workloads.”

Pliops XDP on phoenixNAP BMC benefits would include the following:

  • No changes to the application are required, immediate value
  • By removing bottlenecks and latency, performance can be increased significantly
  • Faster rebuilds and full performance Drive Fail Protection (RAID 5/6)
  • Increase the user data capacity of NVMe SSDs up to 6 times with incredibly stable performance
  • Extend the life of TLC or QLC SSD drives significantly
  • Convenient CLI and API tools
  • Server provisioning that would be automated and quick
  • Options for monthly and yearly reservations, pay-per-use payment
  • 15TB of included free bandwidth (5TB in Singapore)
