QTS Chicago Ramps Up Team for Mega Data Center July Opening

QTS Realty Trust, one of the largest and fastest-growing providers of data center facilities in the U.S., has announced 13 key hires as part of their new QTS Chicago team. These 13 professionals bring decades of data center, sales and critical facility management experience to expand the current facilities team.

To deploy its new data center in Chicago, QTS purchased the former Chicago Sun-Times Printing plant which sits on a 30-acre campus. Construction is nearing completion on the data center. The 317,000 square foot facility will open July 2016.

Nabon Marsico is hired as QTS Chicago Site Director. Mr. Marsico, formerly Regional Director for East Coast Operations for Zayo/Latisys, was responsible for all of Zayo’s Eastern United States data centers. Prior to that, he was with Equinix, Stargate and Emerson/Liebert fulfilling electrical engineering and facility management roles. Marsico served in the U.S. Navy where he was a nuclear-trained electrician aboard a fast-attack submarine.

Mr. Marsico has added on Hector Hernandez as Data Center Operations Manager, Toby Hallmer as Critical Environment Technician Manager, Jerry Knuz as Senior Engineer, Art Garcia as Security Operations Manager and Michael Guess as DCIM Engineer. Additionally, he will soon be hiring CETs, DCO Techs and a site coordinator.

The QTS sales team for Chicago is led by Bill Winsininski, Director of Sales and is responsible for building and leading the sales team in the Chicago market while driving sales and marketing activities for colocation, cloud and managed services in the Chicago area.

Mr. Winsininski joins QTS from ByteGrid Data Center Partners where he was Vice President and General Manager for the Midwest Region. There he was responsible for launching two data center properties and creating an ecosystem in the Midwest driving over 3 megawatts of retail and wholesale deals. Winsininski is a Navy Veteran and served as a Search and Rescue Swimmer during Operation Desert Storm, where he was attached to the 6th fleet in the Mediterranean Sea and the Persian Gulf.

Additional commercial colocation, data center and cloud sales and solution engineering executives joining the Chicago team are Chad Morris, formerly of Cumulus Technologies Group, Leo Chinnaswamy, formerly of Telx, John Macchia, formerly of ServerCentral, Cindy O’Connell, formerly of WOW Business, Kevin Piket, formerly of CoverMyMeds and Tom Chaffin, formerly of Continuum Data Centers.
