Rackspace Expands Managed Cloud Hosting Services, Adds Support for MariaDB and Percona Server

Global cloud hosting provider Rackspace has expanded its managed cloud hosting services adding MariaDB and Percona Server to the list of databases it supports. Rackspace built support for these new databases in response to demands from application developers.

rackspace-hostingRackspace now offers support for MariaDB and Percona Server, two open source variants of the popular MySQL database through its Rackspace Cloud Databases. Each pre-configured database will operate on infrastructure optimized to provide high throughput and consistent performance along with redundant storage, power, and networking to provide for reliability.

Earlier this month, Rackspace announced its new strategy to deliver public cloud hosting to the market with an enhanced focus on delivering services to the managed cloud market segment.

Headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, the global cloud hosting provider serves more than 200,000 business customers from data centers on four continents. In May, Rackspace Hosting enlisted investment bank Morgan Stanley to explore ways to expand its business. The result could be a partnership or acquisition.
