Legrand brand Raritan, a provider of intelligent data center management and rack power distribution solutions, has announced the combo KVM-over-IP/LCD drawers (DLX2-108-LED, DLX2-116-LED, DLX2-216-LED) and KVM-over-IP only units (DLX2-108, DLX2-116, DLX2-216) for its existing Dominion LX II portfolio.

With up to 256 connected devices, the new models would be ideal for IT administration tasks or for organizations with multiple satellite server locations enabling both local and remote access.

The new models offer productivity features such as virtual media, absolute mouse synchronization, directory server authentication, and PC Share. These features enable IT personnel to remotely manage computer and serial devices – maximizing uptime while avoiding travel to resolve connectivity issues.

“The second-generation Dominion LX II KVM-over-IP switches and combo KVM drawers are ideal for small and medium-sized businesses that need at-the-rack and remote IP access for equipment in labs and server rooms,” said Richard Dominach, Director of Product Management, Raritan. “These new models will better support the at-home workforce as well as ease the IT burden of transitioning them back to the office.”

All Dominion LX II models offer the ability to administer a wide range of servers, PCs, and laptops with VGA, DVI, HDMI, USB-C, DisplayPort, USB, and PS/2 interfaces. In addition, the integrated combo KVM-over-IP switches enable the management of two or four networking/serial devices via Dominion Serial Access Modules (DSAM). With local at-the-rack access, plus up to two remote users, these eight or 16-port combo, digital KVM switches provide reliable Java-free BIOS-level control.

Additional benefits of the KVM-over-IP/LCD drawer models would include:

  • Attractive SMB price point with enterprise-level features
  • HTML5-based HTML KVM client
  • Productive video performance for 1080p and 1200p video at 15 frames/second
  • Strong TLS, password settings, password retry lockout, and the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES); also integrates with Active Directory, LDAP, or RADIUS
  • Universal Virtual Media to transfer files, load software, and boot an OS

According to Raritan, both the combo KVM-over-IP/LCD drawers (DLX2-108-LED, DLX2-116-LED, DLX2-216-LED) and KVM-over-IP only units (DLX2-108, DLX2-116, DLX2-216) are available and in stock.

SecureLock Cable Portfolio

Additionally, Raritan has added two extra colors to its portfolio of SecureLock cables. In addition to black, blue, and red colored cables, customers can now also choose from green and white cables.

The decision of adding additional colored SecureLock cables was made after data centers increasingly color code their multiple rack power distribution chains, thereby requiring an increased number of colors.

The locking cables fitted to SecureLock-ready outlets on intelligent PDUs, such as those from Raritan and Server Technology, would prevent IT equipment getting disconnected unwantedly from electricity. The additional colors would reduce the risk of downtime due to accidental unplugging of cables during data center maintenance tasks or vibration in the rack. It would also be a simple but effective way of visualizing power paths in IT infrastructures.

Other than visualizing A and B feeds using two different colors as best-practice data center design, there would also be an increased requirement to distinguish between the different types of equipment connected to PDUs. To visualize pre-set power paths of different customer configurations (i.e. in colocation data centers), and to easily identify between either different plug types or single and 3-phase connections. Another important application is color coding of multiple UPS power paths, which can be found in data centers looking for extra levels of redundancy.

Cisco, Dell and HP

Raritan’s CE certified locking cables with a maximum temperature rating of up to 70ºC /158 F. are available in different cable lengths (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 meter) and different plug types for all kinds of IT equipment including C14/C13, C20/C19, but also C14/C15 connectors with flexible rubber sheeted jackets for high-amperage, high heat devices from vendors such as Cisco, Dell and HP.

This “smart uptime-aiding” locking solution works both with Raritan PX intelligent PDUs, transfer switches, and Server technology PDUs. Raritan’s SecureLock cables come in packs of 6 and are now readily available from stock.
