Relined Fiber Network Acquires German firm Globalways from Datacenter One

Relined Fiber Network, a Dutch company connecting more than 110 carrier-neutral data centers in the Netherlands and Germany, has acquired Germany-based firm Globalways from Datacenter One. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. It represents Relined’s ambition to achieve more growth in Germany.

Stuttgart-based Globalways has been providing professional IT services with maximum data security to many customers (both large and small) in Germany for more than ten years. Relined is taking over Globalways from the umbrella organisation Datacenter One – one of the most important operators of data centers in the Stuttgart region. The organisation is being taken over in its entirety, including all services and employees.

“For us, increasing demand for connectivity on the German market was the principal reason for entering into negotiations with Datacenter One,” said Kristel Landa, Managing Director Relined Fiber Network.

Relined Fiber Network expanded into Germany in 2017. It introduced a nationwide dark fiber network to the market connected to more than 20 data centers – with capacity in major cities including the Frankfurt metro network. Relined’s decision to acquire Globalways GmbH was prompted by a desire to better fulfil increasing demand for connectivity on the German market.

“Our ambitions are high, both in the Netherlands and in Germany. We want to grow, and we are continuing taking steps towards this goal,” said Kristel Landa, Managing Director Relined Fiber Network. “For us, increasing demand for connectivity on the German market was the principal reason for entering into negotiations with Datacenter One, and this led to the takeover of Globalways. It will allow for even better use of our nationwide dark fiber backbone in Germany and will mean that even more connections can be made to the Nordics through the COBRA Fiber Optic Cable. We are immensely pleased with the acquisition, which is a great springboard to further expansions on the German market.”

Datacenter One is a German company with its headquarters located in Stuttgart. Datacenter One operates several data centers at different locations in Germany. In addition, the company plans and builds turnkey data centers within six to nine months – from 500 square meters rental space upwards, also at the desired location. The data centers from Datacenter One offer high energy efficiency (PUE value < 1.3) while meeting high security requirements with ISO 27001 and EN 50600 certifications.
