Since smartphones became popular, there has been a huge change in the way we view webpages. Ofcom’s latest research shows 42% of us now think our smartphone is the most important device for our internet access.
Viewing a webpage designed for a full sized computer on a smartphone or tablet can mean the pages won’t appear properly, some content may not work as it should and the site may be more difficult to navigate. There is a way around these difficulties though, responsive web design.
Responsive web design gives websites a flexible foundation, so the site can adapt to the size and orientation of the device used.
Don’t be tricked into thinking responsive web design is a fix all though. If the majority of your web traffic and lead generation comes from users on mobile devices, it’s probably worth getting a dedicated mobile site developed to make sure you’re making the most of mobile traffic.
