International network service provider RETN has announced an expansion of its network with two new network PoPs in Amsterdam. This brings the total number of PoPs to ten in the Dutch capital, plus three more in other cities in the Netherlands. New network PoPs are being launched in major European cities by RETN to promote local connectivity and provide better uptime, SLA, redundancy and reliability for RETN clients.

One of the two new network PoPs is located in data center maincubes AMS 01 on the Schiphol campus in the Amsterdam area. Companies located in this data center in Schiphol-Rijk, the Netherlands can now opt for RETN’s Layer 2 and DWDM services up to N x 100G. The second network PoP is located within Science Park Campus, in the Equinix AM3 data center.

“We believe that our ongoing collaboration with innovative data centers such as maincubes and Equinix is mutually beneficial,” said Luc Janssen, Managing Director at RETN BV.

In the Netherlands, RETN provides its services to hosting & infrastructure provider i3D.net for example. Their customers are connected to the RETN TRANSKZ network, one of the shortest terrestrial routes in the market, connecting Europe and Asia. The new network PoPs might be of interest to organizations considering offering their services to emerging markets in Asia.

“Amsterdam is one of the most important Internet hubs in the world and of enormous importance to RETN. We are constantly looking for ways to expand our underground network to meet the growing needs of our customers,” said Luc Janssen, Managing Director at RETN BV. “We believe that our ongoing collaboration with innovative data centers such as maincubes and Equinix is mutually beneficial. Customers of such data centers often require local and global connectivity services – and RETN offers unique services between West and East.”

“On the TransKZ terrestrial cable system, RETN carries traffic from Eastern Europe, Russia and beyond to Central and far East Asia, in addition to more traditional Western European traffic destinations,” added Mr. Janssen. “We offer the same level of service quality, local support and understanding of local business culture in all areas on our network.”

Some key facts about RETN include:
