Routing in Elasticsearch at Instacart & Elasticsearch + E-commerce

Routing in Elasticsearch at Instacart

As a production data set grows, organizing and controlling the way documents are stored becomes an integral part of performance tuning. In this presentation, I will discuss why we use routing at Instacart, and common pitfalls to avoid during implementation.

Jonathan is a software engineer who spends his time in all depths of the stack. His passion for all things food related lead him to his current role at Instacart where he manages infrastructure on the Search & Discovery team.

Elasticsearch + E-commerce

Although Elasticsearch started as a search engine, it has grown into a powerful analytics engine. In an e-commerce context, we will discuss how Elasticsearch can be used for more than search and analytics. I will talk about the following:

1) Using Elasticsearch to make e-commerce product recommendations

2) Using Alerting to send notifications if less than 5 orders are placed in last 5 minutes.

Abhishek Andhavarapu is a software engineer at eBay who enjoys working on highly scalable distributed systems. He is the author of the book Learning Elasticsearch. He has been using Elasticsearch since 2012 and has been a strong advocate since then.
