SAP to Offer Cloud Solutions for the U.S. Federal Market

SAP has announced the development of a U.S. federal secured cloud offering that is planned to address all dimensions of the cloud model, including support, operations and delivery. The planned U.S. federal secure node, delivered in partnership with SAP National Security Services (SAP NS2), an independent, U.S.-based subsidiary of SAP, is a fully managed, secured cloud.

The new cloud offering is envisioned to be ideal for mission-critical applications such as the SAP Human Capital Management (HCM) application for U.S. Federal Government Organizations, the SAP Business Warehouse application and custom applications on SAP HANA Cloud Platform. It would offer the right mix of cloud, hosted and on-premise technology based on each agency’s needs, providing flexibility, choice and control over deployment strategy.

sap-hanaSAP’s U.S. federal secured node environment will comply with National Institute of Standards and Technology parameters, as well as data sovereignty and citizenship restrictions inherent in the delivery of cloud-based services to U.S. federal civilian agencies and the U.S. Department of Defense. This includes organizations that house export-controlled or other sensitive information.

Trusted clouds

“It is critical that our federal customers have access to cloud models that are tied to national standards along with options for secured support,” said Mark Testoni, president and CEO, SAP NS2. “Our planned federal secure node is an excellent example of how industry can support customers with mission-enabling solutions and platforms by delivering rapid innovation in a secure environment.”

Underscoring the federal demand for enhanced security within the cloud, Alan Wade, a member of the newly formed SAP NS2 Advisory Board, noted: “Trusted cloud environments enable assured information-sharing through rigorous attention to security, infrastructure engineering and daily operational practices.”
