Scality has rolled out ARTESCA, a lightweight, enterprise-grade, cloud-native object storage solution specially crafted for the requirements of the Kubernetes era. Scality’s technology approach would provide the speed and reliability needed by emerging workloads.
The object storage service addresses multiple use cases from edge to core and cloud, especially the cases related to cloud-native, in-memory applications, big data analytics, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning. It is also supported on a heavy portfolio of HPE all-flash and hybrid intelligent data storage servers.
The object storage solution is deployed on a flash-based system. According to Scality, object storage is now emerging as the primary storage for modern applications. The cloud-native environment demands adaptability, efficiency, and portability. Traditional storage solutions would keep struggling to match the mentioned attributes.
Scality’s object storage solution is built for developers while it would also meet the security demands of the enterprise. DevOps staff and application owners can “easily” manage persistent data storage infrastructures from anywhere without being pressurized into becoming storage experts.
Features Of ARTESCA Object Storage include:
- Modern object storage – Fast application-centric primary storage for new or emerging workloads come up with high performance and ultra-low latency and 10s of GB/s of throughput to meet the requirements of AI/ML, edge applications, and big data analytics. It is completely API-driven, so all the operations can be fully automated.
- Lightweight – ARTESCA would be an easy to install service and it doesn’t require any Linux-based skills while it can also start out as small as a single server and scale-out.
- Cloud-native – ARTESCA powers a cloud-native, app-centric, modern world by supporting multiple Kubernetes distributions and bare metal servers from edge to core, core to edge, or on-premises to a public cloud.
- Enterprise-grade – ARTESCA is sustainable and adaptive over future platforms and technology innovations. A single plane of glass view allows control of multi cloud data, API, workflow management, and user-driven metadata search along with comprehensive storage analytics. The dual-layer erasure coding with minimum overhead would make sure that users get the best data protection.
Scality is providing its ARTESCA solution via a public cloud-inspired procurement model with three different subscription models including one year, three years, and five years. ARTESCA is also available on the HPE portfolio via a six-month exclusive agreement and can also be obtained as a cloud service through HPE GreenLake.
Vice President and General Manager of collaborative platforms and big data at Hewlett Packard Enterprises, Chris Powers, said that they are excited by the new enterprise-grade yet lightweight object storage and data management solution co-designed by Scality and HPE can do wonders for the joint customers of both companies. ARTESCA software would offer customers an application-centric, developer-friendly, and cloud-first platform with which they can access, manage, and store data for their cloud-native apps irrespective of the location in the data center at the edge and in a public cloud. He also said that the ARTESCA object storage solution will be combined with a new portfolio of six purposefully configured HPE systems.
