Schneider Electric Launches ‘Easy Micro Data Centers’ for the Edge

Schneider Electric has expanded its Micro Data Center solution range with the launch of their Easy Micro Data Center Series. Available immediately in Europe, South America, East Asia, the Middle East and Africa, Easy Micro Data Centers are developed to hold and provide all of the computation, storage, and infrastructure required to enable edge computing applications.

Easy Micro Data Centers are network-enabled for web-based remote monitoring. The new data center solution offering incorporates Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure IT software add-on choices, providing secured, real-time intelligence and visibility from anywhere.

Schneider Electric’s Easy Micro Data Centers use the vendor’s newly released Easy Racks and Enclosures as a foundation. They come equipped with Schneider Electric’s ‘Easy UPS’ line of uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs), Easy Power Distribution Units (PDUs), environmental monitoring, as well as cooling, and are pre-integrated at the factory and supplied direct to site.

Because of their high level of pre-integration and testing, IT solutions providers, systems integrators, and value-added resellers (VARs) can specify and deliver Easy Micro Data Centers to site in 2-to-4 weeks, according to Schneider Electric. This would make them ideal for quick deployment by organizations that value flexibility, reliability, cost, and speed of response.

“The ability to deploy IT resources at any location offers businesses great flexibility, but it must come with the peace of mind that solutions will be delivered reliably, to specification, and on budget,” said Rob McKernan, SVP, Secure Power Europe, Schneider Electric.

Easy Micro Data Centers may be implemented at any edge computing or dispersed IT site due to their small size and integrated architecture. The Easy Micro Data Center C-Series variants are enclosed enclosures that may be used in semi-controlled commercial situations like a regular office or corporate premises. The Easy Micro Data Center S-Series, on the other hand, comes with vented enclosures for easy integration into common IT settings like network closets and server rooms.

“Today resilience, efficiency and speed of deployment are fundamental considerations for deploying physical infrastructure at the edge,” said Rob McKernan, Senior Vice President, Secure Power Europe, Schneider Electric. “The ability to deploy IT resources at any location offers businesses great flexibility, but it must come with the peace of mind that solutions will be delivered reliably, to specification, and on budget. With built-in management software allowing remote monitoring via the cloud, Easy Micro Data Centers offer increased intelligence for streamlined management across multiple edge sites, providing customers with the optimum combination of reliability, affordability, and agility.”

Key benefits of the Easy Micro Data Centers range would include:

  • An integrated data center solution – Easy Micro Data Centers come integrated with power and cooling infrastructure components and may be deployed quickly at a reduced cost of up to 48 percent, according to the vendor.
  • A fit for low-latency applications – Easy Micro Data Centers would provide the perfect match for low-latency applications in Banking and Finance, Retail, Local Government, Healthcare, Hospitality and Education.
  • Remote monitoring and management as an option – Offer supports remote monitoring and management made easy with Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure IT, cloud-based software suite as an optional configuration.
  • Additional security and environmental features – Easy Micro Data Centers come complete with environmental sensing and physical security to help safeguard against tampering and unauthorized access.
