Colocation provider TelecityGroup, a large data center operator headquartered in the UK, has announced the opening of Helsinki 6 – bringing online new data center capacity in Helsinki, Finland. The new customer capacity in Helsinki – one of Europe’s fastest-emerging tech hubs – has been opened as part of TelecityGroup’s ongoing capacity expansion program across Europe.
Since moving into the Finnish market in 2012, TelecityGroup continues to bring online new customer capacity to support booming domestic and international demand for connected colocation data center services in Finland.

“Demand for high quality data centers continues to grow,” said Sami Holopainen, General Manager, TelecityGroup Finland. “We see that, as well as an increasing interest in cloud services generally, there is an outsourcing trend amongst large corporations headquartered in Finland. The availability of connectivity options such as the TelecityGroup Cloud-IX solution, a service which enables customers to access multiple cloud services, toolsets and solutions through a single, dedicated, secure connection, is also a factor in driving data center capacity demand.”
A pioneer in mobile technology, Helsinki would now be one of Europe’s fastest-growing hubs for young digital companies, with thriving gaming, software development, wireless telecommunications, e-services and system integration sectors. The new colocation data center facility, TelecityGroup’s sixth in Helsinki, will be built out in phases based on customer demand for data center capacity from Finland’s vibrant digital sector.
