Colocation provider TelecityGroup will build an entirely new, extremely efficient data center for SURFsara at its existing AMS01 data center location at Amsterdam Science Park, the Netherlands. The new data center, scheduled to be opened in 2016 would enable the advanced, high-performance computing (HPC) that is required for the advancement of Dutch scientific research.
SURFsara is the principal provider of large-scale computing power, cloud hosting services and data storage to the Dutch academic community. The organization already manages a number of advanced computing and storage systems including Cartesius, the new Dutch national supercomputer, a high performance cloud computing infrastructure for research purposes, and the Dutch national archive for large-scale data archiving.
High-density computing
An essential partner for Dutch scientific research, SURFsara supports national and international universities, institutes, and companies. The organization and its partners are investing in this expansion with TelecityGroup due to their evolving requirements for high-density computing solutions. The new colocation environment would offer them flexible and efficient data center solutions to meet increasing demands for computing and storage capacity.
